TORONTO, ON (November 18, 2024) - Wealthsimple, the money management platform on a mission to help Canadians achieve financial freedom, today named Stripe veteran Jeff Gowen as its new chief financial officer. The company also welcomed Justin Grudzien as its new chief information security officer (CISO) and Diana McLachlan in her new role as VP of people operations.
Gowen brings a breadth of experience to Wealthsimple, where he will oversee all of the company’s financial operations, including capital allocation, planning and analysis, and M&A. He spent the past three years at payment technology leader Stripe, serving most recently as head of treasury and investor relations. Prior to that, Gowen spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was a managing director in investment banking.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jeff, who will help lead Wealthsimple into our next phase of growth,” said Michael Katchen, Wealthsimple’s CEO and co-founder. “His track record of success across a range of leadership positions, his expertise in public markets and analytics, and his technical skill will make Jeff a terrific addition to our executive team.”
“Wealthsimple has made a real impact on the financial lives of millions of Canadians and I’m a big believer in their mission,” said Gowen. “I’m very excited to join the team and work to scale that impact even more.”
Gowen succeeds Aimee Fearon, who in her four years as CFO helped lead Wealthsimple through a period of rapid expansion, while also steering the company to reach profitability in 2023.
Justin Grudzien has spent nearly two decades as a leader working in information security, and joins Wealthsimple after serving for four years as CISO of DoorDash. At Wealthsimple, Grudzien will be responsible for ensuring that clients’ information and critical data are safe and secure.
Diana McLachlan is shifting into a new role as VP of people operations. A three-year Wealthsimple veteran, McLachlan served most recently as VP of communications and public affairs.
